Report: Luke Getsy Accepts Bears Offensive Coordinator Job
ESPN’s Adam Schefter, fresh off blowing his Tom Brady retirement report, is back with another scoop involving the Bears. Schefter tweeted that Luke Getsy, who had reportedly been offered the Offensive Coordinator position in Chicago, has accepted the job.
Packers’ QB coach Luke Getsy is expected to leave Green Bay for the Bears’ offensive coordinator job, per league sources. Packers now will be losing Nathaniel Hackett and Getsy, leaving holes in their offensive coaching staff.

The Packers quarterback coach had been expected to become Green Bay’s coordinator after the previous OC Nathaniel Hackett had moved to Denver to be Broncos head coach.
With Matt LaFleur calling the plays in Packerland, Getsy apparently sought the chance to be the primary play caller in Chicago. The 37-year-old will have a much different challenge moving from established veteran Aaron Rodgers to a young quarterback in Justin Fields.
Getsy has been enmeshed with both the Sean McVay coaching tree and the Kyle Shanahan tree. Hopefully, that means a more dynamic and creative attack than we saw under Matt Nagy. Only time will tell if the results will be better but this is a good move for the Bears.
It’s fair to say that Matt Eberflus’ tenure as Bears coach will likely hinge on what they can get out of Fields. At least at this moment, it is a good first step for Chicago to poach a talented coach from a division rival.
