Bears Sign DT Larry Ogunjobi from Bengals
The Bears made a big splash in free agency on Monday reaching a three-year deal with top defensive tackle target Larry Ogunjobi. Ogunjobi had a breakout year for the AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals in 2021 picking up seven sacks. A knee injury against the Titans in the divisional round ended his season before the Super Bowl.
Bears are giving Larry Ogunjobi a three-year, $40.5M deal, including $26.35M guaranteed, per source. https://t.co/oghcfTWsTC

Originally, a third-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2017, the product of the University of Charlotte went to the Bengals in 2020. Chicago is hoping he can fill the role of the soon to be departing Akiem Hicks in the middle. 26.35 million of the $40.5 million contract is guaranteed, so, they are making a big bet on Ogunjobi.
This signing makes it pretty clear the Bears are going to be aggressive with their new salary cap space. Look for additional big moves in the next few days as the league year officially begins.
