Chicago Bears Sign WR Olamide Zaccheaus
According to several sources, the Bears gave quarterback Caleb Williams another offensive weapon by signing free agent wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus to a one-year deal. Zaccheaus played for the Commanders last season and caught 45 passes for 506 yards and three TDs. He also returned punts for Washington and has previously worked as a kick returner. The Bears are now his fourth team in four seasons.
One that got away: Former Commanders WR Olamide Zaccheaus is expected to sign with the Bears, per source.

The signing doesn’t mean Keenan Allen won’t return, but a reunion at Halas Hall now seems doubtful. Allen finished the 2024 season with 70 receptions for 744 yards and seven scores. He’s been linked to the Saints and Jets but remains unsigned. GM Ryan Poles has done most of his heavy lifting and will now focus on the draft and fringe free agent additions.
Zaccheaus is only 5-foot-8 but he’s a speedy receiver who blocks well. He can play the slot or outside. He’ll be Chicago’s new WR3 behind D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze. An undrafted free agent, he spent the first four years of his career with the Falcons. His best season came in 2022, when he caught 40 passes for 533 yards and three touchdowns. After an underwhelming ’23 season with the Eagles, he rebounded with the Commanders last year.
Coaches praise Zaccheaus for his ability to find openings in soft coverage and execute downfield blocks. He can play quarterback in an emergency and was also a star running back in high school. At various points in his career, coaches have described him as “dependable,” “smart,” and “underrated.”
The 28-year-old also has several ties to current Bears players. He played with Drew Dalman and Grady Jarrett in Atlanta, and he went to high school with D’Andre Swift.
