Bears Acquire LB Darrell Taylor From Seahawks

One of the weak spots for the Bears heading into the 2024 season was a lack of reliable pass rushers on the edge. They made an attempt to address that issue by trading a sixth round pick in the 2025 draft to the Seahawks for edge rusher Darrell Taylor.

Seattle selected Taylor in the second round of the 2020 draft out of Tennessee and he collected 21.5 sacks in three seasons in the Pacific Northwest after missing his rookie season with a fractured leg. The Seahawks signed him to a one year $3.1 million deal before the season instead of exercising his fifth year option.

The cameras from Hard Knocks caught Chicago attempting to acquire Patriots pass rusher Matt Judon last week before he ultimately went to the Falcons. Taylor was usually deployed only in third down situations in Seattle because it was felt he struggled stopping the run.

For a team as challenged to create a pass rush as the Bears were in 2023, Taylor will certainly help improve the defensive front. He won’t help as much as a player like Judon but any move in the right direction is a welcome one.
