Larry Ogunjobi Fails Physical; Deal With Bears Scrapped
In a stunning development Friday morning, the Chicago Bears announced newly signed defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi failed his physical and their three-year deal fell apart. The former Bengals and Browns player missed the last two games of Cincinnati’s 2021 Super Bowl run with a knee injury.

Chicago moved on quickly, signing defensive tackle Justin Jones from the Los Angeles Chargers. Jones, in his fifth year out of North Carolina State, had a career year in 2021 with three sacks and 19 solo tackles. Despite his improved numbers this is clearly a downgrade from what the Bears would have gotten from a healthy Ogunjobi.

So far this off-season has been very underwhelming for Ryan Poles and the front office. A series of depth signings at wide receiver and offensive line has been the only other activity. It appears the Bears focus is on building through the draft, a challenge exacerbated by the lack of a first round pick.
Chicago still has ample cap space so big moves remain possible, but I would refrain from holding my breath.
